Candlestick Point State Recreation Area, adjacent to Hunters Point, offers stunning views of the bay, along with picnic areas, fishing piers, fitness courses and hiking trails. The park is a popular jumping off area for kayakers and windsurfers.
Homes in the neighborhood range from historic single-family homes to newer condominiums with expansive views, modern kitchens and hardwood floors. There is a significant community of artists, musicians, and writers who live and work here, and who participate in San Francisco Open Studios which is a popular annual event. Community gardening is popular as well and includes the Quesada Gardens, Bridgeview Community Garden, and Latona Community Garden.
