San Francisco, October 11 & 12- Nestled within the Minnesota Street Project’s art gallery in the historic Dogpatch district, Chef Heena Patel’s Besharam was vibrantly alit last Saturday and Sunday for a grand Diwali dinner that drew in full houses both nights from her brilliantly inventive offerings and radiant atmosphere.
The dinner featured three courses which boldly elevated classic Indian vegetarian favorites in remarkably ingenious approaches, a signature of Chef Heena’s that Besharam became instantly adored for.

There’s lots more.

As one of the upcoming APEC Summit’s themes, the idea of “women’s economic empowerment” is not an abstract concept in San Francisco. Did you know the SF-Marin Food bank distributes over 1 million❗meals each week to folks around the Bay Area? Great work sfmfoodbank!

Everyone’s talking about the APEC Summit as it is almost here in San Francisco. Over the next week, we're highlighting a few themes of APEC that we believe really resonate with #DogpatchSF.

One of APEC's themes is food security. Here in Dogpatch, we couldn’t be more proud to be the home of the SF-Marin Food Bank, which has been providing meals to the greater community for over 30 years.

Last week, a member of the Dogpatch Business Association volunteered with the Food Bank, joining other community members to prepare 900 bags of food. brucekinhuie was in charge of adding the applesauce to each bag - 2,700 cups in total. In Patrick Martinez's “Ghost Land exhibition”, he explores the disintegration of California's rapidly evolving society, and through installations and text-based artworks, conveys people's resilient and united response to this reality.

California has long been a land of dreams for many, including myself. From a young age, I heard about its beauty through media, but upon arriving here, I once experienced shattered dreams. However, I later reevaluated it through some artistic works that describe California. Now I understand that it has many dark aspects, but I've learned to accept and slowly appreciate both the flaws and the virtues of the real California.

藝術家Patrick Martinez的Ghost Land展覽裡，探討了高速發展的加州，其實正處於分崩離析的社會現實；並透過藝術裝置與文字，傳達出人們對此堅韌團結的吶喊回應！

加州這塊土地，一直都是許多人的築夢之地，或許我自己也是；從小就在媒體的渲染下，聽說了它有多美好，但來到這裡後，卻曾經歷夢碎。不過我後來卻在一些描述加州的藝術創作中，重新去思考了它。現在我知道它有許多黑暗面，但我仍學會接受，並慢慢喜歡上真正有缺點也有優點的加利福尼亞。
